Frequently Asked Questions

Can I replace CR2450 with CR2430?

Generally no. CR2430 shares the 24.5 mm diameter but is only 3.0 mm thick versus 5.0 mm for CR2450, so most holders will not maintain proper contact.

What is the difference between CR2450 and BR2450?

Both fit the same holder. CR2450 uses lithium manganese dioxide and offers higher capacity. BR2450 uses lithium carbon monofluoride and performs better at extreme temperatures with slightly lower capacity.

Is CR2450 the same as CR2032?

No. CR2450 is 24.5 × 5.0 mm; CR2032 is 20 × 3.2 mm. Diameter and thickness both differ — they are not interchangeable.

How long does a CR2450 battery last?

Shelf life is often up to ~10 years unused. In-device life depends on load — low-power IoT nodes can run many months; high-drain pulses shorten that window.

Can I use CR2450 in a key fob that says CR2032?

No. The CR2450 will not fit a 20 mm CR2032 tray. Always match the code printed on the old cell.

Should I always trust cross-reference charts?

Use this guide as a starting point, then confirm with your device manual or manufacturer. Voltage, chemistry, and physical fit must all match for safe operation.

Selection notes

Match chemistry (CR vs BR) to your temperature environment. For room-temperature consumer devices, standard CR2450 (Li-MnO2) is the default choice. Confirm tabbed (N) variants only when the PCB requires them.
